Roses are very dear to me for several reasons - including my faerie name (Rosie Delicious). While I've been creating these blooming rosebuds for a few years - I began attaching them to real rose stems in 2005 - allowing you to purchase them by the dozen! Roses are created by dyeing chicken shells pink; waxing in the petal edges as a resist to the red dye bath; removing the wax; painting in the shadow lines; scratching the highlights on the petals; laquering the shell 10 times; attaching the shell to the prepared stem. They are shipped in long flower boxes made of strong cardboard.
